Pune's plant seasons, in short
- March-May (hot, dry): Days reach 37-40°C in April and May with dry air. Pots in sun dry out every 1-2 days.
- June-September (monsoon): Steady monsoon rain, lighter in the east of the city and heavier towards the western ghats side. Humid and cloudy, so soil stays wet for days.
- October (warm, drying): Rain tapers off and the sun returns. Pots start drying faster again, and it's a good month to repot.
- November-February (cool, dry): Cool nights, sometimes down to 8-12°C, and very dry air. Growth slows; water indoor plants every 5-7 days and mist or group humidity-loving plants.
Going away from Pune?
- 3-day trip: in most months, water deeply and group pots out of direct sun; no visit needed. In April-May, small sunny pots need a visit or a move indoors.
- 1 week: 2-3 visits in March-May; 1 in the monsoon (mainly for indoor and covered pots); 1-2 in the dry winter.
- 2 weeks or more: 4-6 visits in the hot months, 2-3 the rest of the year.

Balcony and terrace pots in Pune
The newer apartment towers in Baner, Hinjewadi and Kharadi have high, windy balconies: wind dries soil almost as much as sun does, so move pots back from the railing and group them. Older bungalows and housing societies in Kothrud, Aundh and Koregaon Park often have more shade from big trees, where overwatering in the monsoon is the bigger risk. In the dry winter, leaf tips on calatheas, ferns and palms turn brown from low humidity rather than lack of water; grouping pots or a pebble tray helps more than watering more. Hibiscus, jasmine, tulsi, money plants and succulents all do well in Pune.

Frequently asked questions
Can I book plant sitting in Pune?
Yes, you can send a request from anywhere in Pune. Tell us your locality and dates on WhatsApp; we look for a vetted gardener near you and confirm with you before anything is booked.
What if you don't have a gardener near me in Pune yet?
We're adding gardeners city by city. If we don't have someone near you yet, we tell you so before anything is booked, and nothing is charged. Your request helps us decide where to add gardeners next.
What will it cost?
It depends on how many plants you have and how many visits you need. The form asks your budget per visit, and we confirm the price with you on WhatsApp before any visit. No payment now.
Why do my plants' leaf tips turn brown in Pune's winter?
Usually because the air is very dry from November to February, not because the plant needs more water. Group humidity-loving plants together or stand them on a tray of damp pebbles, and keep watering only when the top inch of soil is dry.
