Chennai's plant seasons, in short
- April-June (peak heat): The hottest stretch, with 38-42°C days in May. Humidity is high but pots in sun still dry out daily.
- July-September (hot, occasional storms): Chennai gets only part of the southwest monsoon: evening thunderstorms between hot, humid days. Keep watering, but check the soil first.
- October-December (northeast monsoon): Chennai's main rainy season, with heavy spells and sometimes cyclones. Drainage and wind are the concerns; outdoor pots need little watering.
- January-March (mildest): Warm days, slightly cooler nights, little rain. The easiest months; water indoor plants every 3-5 days.

- 1 week: 3-4 visits in April-June; 2 in July-September and January-March; in the October-December rains, 1 visit for indoor and covered pots, plus emptying saucers.
